Celebrate the potential of the human body with BODY WORLDS Vital at Telus Spark from January 16th, 2016 - May 31st, 2016. Body Worlds is back in Calgary for the second time in a decade, and organizers hope it will draw 100,000 people to the Telus Spark. This exhibition presents the leading health concerns of contemporary times, the causes of these conditions and diseases and ways to prevent or manage them. BODY WORLDS displays actual human bodies that have been donated and posthumously preserved using the process of plastination. The bodies have been injected with resins and plastics that allow intricate and delicate body parts, including nerves and veins, to be displayed. Designed to inspire visitors to learn more about anatomy, life sciences and healthy living this is a great family event to attend this spring.
BODY WORLDS exhibitions are the original and first exhibitions that displayed human specimens to a large public audience. Created by Dr. Gunther von Hagens, BODY WORLDS is the result of the German scientist and physician's three-decade-long research and development endeavours in plastination science - von Hagens' groundbreaking method of halting decomposition and preserving the body after death for scientific and medical study, which he invented in 1977. Don’t miss out on this fascinating display.
