Douglasdale occupies a large area of the southeast sector of Calgary. The community is home to 12,000 residents, 4000 houses and 500 businesses and covers approximately 328 hectares of land. The area includes Douglasdale Estates, Douglas Ridge, and Douglasdale Meadows, as well as Douglasglen Business Park.
Through the use of natural topographic features, particularly the Bow River escarpment, local residents can enjoy the views of the river valley and of the Rocky Mountains beyond. Residents are also able to take full advantage of the many recreational opportunities that Fish Creek Provincial Park has to offer, situated on the west edge of the community on both banks of the Bow River. The park encompasses Lake Sikome and connects fully to Calgary’s extensive recreational pathway system. There is the Douglas Dale Golf course to enjoy a skating rick with boards and many playgrounds throughout the community.
Douglasdale is located in the southeast sector of Calgary between the deerfoot Trail and the southern stretches of the Bow River. Deerfoot access is at Douglasdale Blvd (24th St SE). Access from Macleod Trail is via Anderson Road at the Bow Bottom Trail – Anderson – Deerfoot spaghetti interchange.
